Manuel Cuevas claims he’s not the Rhinestone Rembrandt, but his 60+ year career designing custom rhinestone bedazzled suits for Hollywood and pop music’s biggest stars prooves otherwise.In the fall of 2023 I interviewed Manuel Cuevas, now 90 years old, about his historic and unbelievable career working for some of the 20th centuries most important trendsetters in fashion and entertainment. He had no shortage of stories. Then, I set to work visualizing those stories through animation, weaving Manuel’s past and present together for The Hustle’s video series “Uknown Empires.”
